Laguna Seca Testing Day 2 |
(April 5, 2007 - Laguna Seca Raceway, Monterey California) The Jordan Suzuki team concluded a successful second day of testing today (Thursday). The weather slightly cooler and more wind than day one, but Jake quickly got to last year's race-pace within a few laps and proceeded to drop his lap times into the low 1:26 range. By mid to late morning, Jake had lowered his lap times to 1:25.69, which was below last year's Superstock qualifying time of 1:26.144 and only about 0.7 seconds from last year's Superbike qualifying time of 1:24.946. When the test concluded, Jake had completed almost 250 miles without incident, except for a few close calls from the sparrows on the track. The birds, oddly, were a huge issue for the past two days. Aaron had come in from a lap looking as if he had just lost a prize fight, with a helmet full of blood from a bird that he had hit on the track. Each of the riders testing had various "bird" issues throughout the test.
Unfortunately, Aaron's x-rays Wednesday night revealed a rib fracture which prevented him from participating in Thursday's test day. Hopefully, Aaron will prove to be a quick healer and be 100% by the Barber / Fontana back-to-back weekends. With Aaron's injury, the Superbike didn't get any track time and it's further development will continue at the next round. Aaron's injury notwithstanding, the test was successful as it allowed the team to gather important set-up and suspension data which will aid us during the next few rounds and also during the two rounds at Laguna Seca later this season.
