Laguna Seca Testing Day 1
(April 4, 2007 - Laguna Seca Raceway, Monterey, California)

The Jordan Suzuki team is in Monterey California this week, testing for the two AMA Superbike events that will take place at Laguna Seca Raceway this year.  The Jordan team is testing along side the Yoshimura Suzuki team, while the other factory teams are testing at Infineon Raceway.

The first day of a two day test at Laguna Seca for Jordan Suzuki concluded with promising results.   On Superstock bikes, the Michael Jordan Motorsports riders took to the track under clear skies and gusty winds. By the lunch break, Aaron Yates had recorded a 1:27.8 second lap time and Jake Holden had lapped the circuit in 1:27.5 seconds.  Both riders' fastest lap times were below those of current Superstock class point leader, and reigning Superbike class champion Ben Spies.

The day took a down-turn when Aaron crashed entering the corkscrew just before lunch, injuring his ribs.  Apparent high wind gusts were causing problems in the corkscrew section of the track, which had caused problems most of the day, and may have been a factor in Aaron's crash.  He tried to ride more laps after the lunch break, but the pain in his ribs continued to be a problem.  After visiting the local hospital, the conclusion is that Aaron may have suffered a fractured rib.

In the afternoon, Jake recorded a 1:26.1 lap time, which ( approx) equaled the pole position time from the 2006 Laguna Seca Superstock race and was under his best 2006 time by one full second.

Aaron logged 65 miles for the day and Jake completed 130 miles.

On deck tomorrow--more Superstock testing by Jake... and pending results of a CT scan on Aaron, Superbike testing will begin.
