BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK - SUPERBIKE QUALIFYING

Birmingham, AL (April 18, 2008) - Geoff May and Aaron Yates have just completed the first of two qualifying sessions for Superbike racing in the AMA Superbike doubleheader at Barber Motorsports Park.  Both riders finished in the top-10 with May edging out Yates by .089 seconds for the ninth position and Yates in 10th.

Riders will have one more opportunity tomorrow to better their times in the final qualifying Superbike session.  And when combined with today's provisional results, it will determine their starting positions for the two AMA Superbike races this weekend.

Also on the schedule for tomorrow, is the qualifying session for the 17-lap AMA Superstock race.   Yates is seeking his third consecutive win in the AMA Superstock class at Barber.   Last year, he earned the pole position, led the 17-lap race flag-to-flag and gave team Jordan Suzuki its first win.

Yates' round one win at Daytona International Speedway last month ties him for the third winningest rider in Superstock wins.  He is currently first in the overall AMA Superstock points standings and sixth in AMA Superbike points.

Check back for more details throughout the weekend.
