YATES AND MAY TO START SUPERSTOCK RACE ONE - TWO |
|
(March 5, 2008) - Aaron Yates has earned the pole position for Thursday's AMA Superstock race at the famed Daytona International Speedway. The sophmore Jordan Suzuki rider earned the starting position with a time of 1:38.231 on his 2008 Suzuki GSX-R1000. For Yates' efforts, he also earned one point in the championship. In his press conference, Yates joked with media stating, "It's great to be leading the championship!"
Starting next to Yates in the 13 lap (60K) event is teammate Geoff May. After May earned the second slot on the front row he returned to pit row to a round of applause from the Jordan Suzuki crew. May commented "I'm having a ball! It's like starting racing all over again when I was a beginner privateer. It's really fun!"
Both riders will have one more practice session Thursday morning before taking to the track later in the afternoon for the first race of the road race season.
