The Merlyn Plumlee Memorial Scholarship was established to allow deserving students to study at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and to carry on Merlyn's philosophy of generosity, fairness and passion for the sport of motorcycle racing. Merlyn was well-known as one of the top crew chiefs in the United States, representing some of the most prominent racers in the history of the sport. While enormously successful and well-respected, Merlyn was always ready to offer his expertise and support to racers and mechanics at all levels, including privateers and those on competing teams. Merlyn will always be remembered as powerful but humble, a soft-spoken gentleman who treated everyone with respect. The Merlyn Plumlee Scholarship pays tribute to a remarkable man by paving the way for young men and women of similar character and outlook to thrive in the sport that he loved so much.
In an effort to give him a lasting tribute and abit of respect, which he undoubtedly deserves, we are raising money for the Merlyn Plumlee Memorial Scholarship to the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. Cash contributions are tax deductible, and we are working on having a check presentation to the scholarship at this year's Daytona Bike Week.
